The star of my keeper shelf!
By 3-5 book a week habit
Caution: this is no summer beach read.

It's a beautiful romance about some of the beautiful people, but with uncommon depth and complexity.

Phoenix Falling is harrowing and deeply affecting tale of emotional annihilation and painful recovery, and, unlike in most romance novels, love is neither panacea nor placebo. It is, rather, a sword of redemption requiring both courage and strength of character to wield it.

This is hands down my favorite Mary Jo Putney novel, with her signature depth of characterization and compassionate insight, and her wise understanding of love's power to facilitate the healing of even the deepest wounds.

One complaint: I don't particularly like the cover for this member of the series. It doesn't really do the characters justice. To me, he in particularly looks completely incapable of the strength of character which Putney allows all her characters to discover in themselves.

So, don't be fooled by the party animal cover models. There's real, classic Putney inside.

One of my top 5 books ever

I read this story originally as The Spiral Path (and personally like that title better) years ago. And I probably reread it ever year or so since. It's that good. It's not an easy, or cheerful, happy, lighthearted read, but it's always amazing to me how much I get lost in the emotions of this book. It's not a comfortable read either. Many detail are hard to read. That's what makes this book so amazing to me, that even knowing the story and how much it makes me cry in many different places, and how unsettling it is to imagine someone actually living the life Kenzie did, I still reread this book over and over. It is a romance novel, and in the end the love between the Rainie and Kenzie is beautiful, and after all they went through, totally believabl, at least to me. And now that this review is done, that reminds me it's been awhile since I picked up this book, maybe I need the kindle version as well....

Well worth losing sleep over

I stayed up until after 2:30 AM - and it was worth losing sleep over. The characters were so great, the plot so compelling and the writing so good that I could not stop reading until the end. I loved the way Kenzie's secret wasn't revealed until near the end. And Ms. Putney didn't give the characters an easy out. They had to work for their happy ending. I have so many books on my Kindle to read, that I don't often read a book more than once. But I already want to read Phoenix Falling again, this time to savor the all the wonderful details. Excellent, excellent book.

Excellent. Buy the Version Without the CD-ROM.

I am in full agreement with Vince here. For only $13, this is an excellent, thorough introduction to the updated ACT.

The reality of the test-prep publishing world these days is that name-brand companies like Barron's simply contract private tutors, such as me and Vince and Mr. Stewart, to write their books. Hence, the quality of the books is not just a reflection of the company's ability, but also a reflection of the author's expertise. Mr. Stewart seems to have been an excellent choice for Barron's in this instance.

Of course, you should also buy the Real ACT Prep Guide The Real ACT Prep Guide (Book + Bonus Online Content), (Reprint) (Official Act Prep Guide) because it's the only source of Official ACT questions. However, the Real ACT Prep Guide (as you can tell from the many negative customer reviews) has not been updated to reflect the new ACT Writing (essay) portion, while this book from Barron's has in fact been updated to reflect the recent changes. So in that aspect, this book is even better than the real thing.

I would not recommend paying the extra $7 for the CD-ROM; there is more than enough material in the book itself.

An Excellent Choice for the ACT

This is an excellent self-study guide for the updated ACT. There are enough practice tests to give you a good idea of what the actual test will be like. The advice from this book is well-written and easy to follow. There is no need to purchase the extra CD, as the content in this book is fairly comprehensive.

This book is great for prep on the ACT. My granddaughter has spent hours doing test then studying and then doing another test. I believe this book will be instrumental in her get the highest possible score for her on the ACT.

A must read

I enjoyed reading The Dukan Diet and it definitely motivated me to jump start my diet. It is similar to the Atkins diet where you reduce the intake of carbohydrates and increase your lean proteins into your diet. I am always trying to find the best diet and not having much success, with most diet plans, i can't wait to go to the market and buy everything i need to replace all the bad food in my refrigerator. I have read articles about the Dukan diet and it is actually popular in other countries too, so I was looking forward to trying it myself. The maintenance to keep the weight loss off is a step by step process, which i find great because I need a step by step plan to keep me going.

Great diet program easy to follow book has alot of great information

This is a wonderful book full of information and recipes to help me on my weight loss through low carb eating. It's hard to find a lot of good recipes that call for items in my pantry and not need to run to the store all the time so I appreciate that. I also love ebooks vs paper books because I don't like having a lot of clutter around and having a lot of books feels like that to me.
I love reviewing products for companies and seeing what is out there to try and give an opinion on. Although our opinions may vary I give my honest opinion of items to help other people considering items to make their decisions. At times I take photos of items "in use" other times I don't if it's not showing much about the product. I have received this product in exchange for my honest unbiased review. I can say I am very happy with it and would not hesitate to purchase it myself knowing that upon my examination it is a quality product.

This is an interesting concept to losing weight using ketosis and keeping meat as a big part of your diet. It's main focus is trying to change your eating habits. First you eliminate carbs but keep the protein for up to 10 days. Then you add carbs in the form of vegetables. Next you sparingly add in things like fruit and cheese. This guide suggests that you continue to follow this type of diet throughout your life because it works and is so easy. The book is quite engaging and interesting, backing up the information and why each phase works. I have enjoyed reading it and now ready to put it to great use. It is an excellent resource.
