Very basic / sparse information

This book tries too hard to cover too many topics and ends up providing relatively basic information on a wide variety of things, without being able to go deep in any. It is targeted towards a networking novice, so introduces some very basic concepts. While there is some focus on Cisco products, most of the information is outdated and too high level to be meaningful (you can get more current / detailed information on the Internet). It would have been more useful to stick to a few core subjects around routing/switching, and explore more in-depth what specific Cisco products can do, and how to use them effectively.

Very helpful, but hasn't been updated since 2004

This supplement is very helpful for law school real estate transaction classes. It's only downside is that it hasn't been updated recently, and was published in 2004. As a result, some of the statutes might be a bit out-dated. However, it's extremely well-organized and adeptly explains some very difficult material. Also, it's much more helpful than the more current Emanuel Law Outlines Real Estate, which is way too general and doesn't cover concepts in nearly enough detail. If you're weary of the publication date, I'd recommend the Examples & Explanations: Real Estate Transactions, 5th Edition... The E&E is much more current and covers topics in great detail. The E&E might cover a few topics in more detail than you need for your exam, so you'll probably end up skimming a few sections.

Annoying mistakes cause needless confusion

Most people will purchase a book like this as an outline-style helper to supplement their casebook in law school (I'm assuming). Substance-wise, the book does the job pretty well and lays all the concepts out with helpful examples. However, its inexcusable when a book has errors that potentially result in sentences meaning entirely different things. For example, I've spotted at least two places where the author uses vendee in place of vendor. Using the wrong term of art causes unneccessary confusion in a book that is supposed to clarify the situation- especially in a subject like property law where there are so many loaded words. In short, these authors are all lawyers who I'm sure like to pontificate on the importance of careful editing- practice what you preach!

One of the best overall references out there!

This book is absolutely great for the beginning collector of Roman coins, as well as the advanced collector who wants a good overview in a book that isn't troublesome to carry around. There is really no best way to organize a reference book on ancient coins, each has its up sides and down sides. This book crams an enormous amount of information into a small space, but it is a little harder to use than the new edition of Sear. However, the new Sear editions are in 4 different volumes already, each of which are larger than this book, and he hasn't finished yet. There are a lot of pictures, so it is enjoyable just to browse through even if you aren't looking for anything. Ras also gives a short history of each emperor, and includes good information about the rarity of the coins in general. His estimates of the prices are as close as you can realistically expect considering the nature of the market.

Conclusion: This is the best general reference you can get. It is cheap, and it is small. The apparent shortcomings of the book are not really a problem. If he would have fixed them the book would be a multi-volume set of big, heavy books that would be priced well out of the range of the beginner. I would without hesitation recommend this book to anyone who wants a one volume overview of Roman coins that is very complete.

ERIC II Reader's Digest version...AORTA

Aorta is an excellent reference book for ancient roman coins. I purchased ERIC II first which is very well written and an excellent reference book for collectors of ancient Roman and Byzantine coins. It has all the bells and whistles. Aorta is the Reader's Digest version. Aorta does not cover the Byzantine era and is black and white but the cost and weight (lack there of) makes it a very affordable alternative to ERIC II. You will probably do like me and buy both!

Great value for the beginning collector

I've started collecting Roman imperial coins in the past but was quickly put-off by the lack of affordable literature. AORTA (what does this mean, anyway?) is a condensed version of ERIC (Ency. Roman Imp. Coins) by the same author, and for a relatively low price it really does allow you to put a proper identification and even likely period of issue on almost any Roman imperial you have. It does not include provincial issues, but that is to be expected. The size is convenient (the binding has held up well so far) and the photos are sharp enough to see good detail of both sides, while the listing of inscriptions seems more than complete enough for the beginning collector like me. You probably shouldn't try to use AORTA for pricing a coin, because there are only general statements about rarity of the given issuer, not individual combinations of fronts and backs for each denomination, but running through EBay and on-line dealer listings will give you a feel for price at the moment. On the downside, AORTA is definitely abridged in some respects from ERIC, and this shows in the lack of color, including references to green or other color bars and such in the introduction. Some types are not illustrated though succinctly described, which may make full attribution difficult, but so far this has not been a problem for me with my meager collection. A cross reference to RIC (Roman Imperial Coins) might help since many dealers use those page and illustration numbers, but the only available version of RIC now to my knowledge is a CD (quite affordable, by the way, but somewhat difficult to use) and the printed volumes are bulky and exceedingly expensive. At my level of beginning collector AORTA gives me pretty much everything I need to feel confident I've correctly attributed a coin--advanced collectors may feel a bit different, however, and would want more detailed literature. Highly recommended for the beginner and intermediate collector--and also the Roman historian.

Very interesting read for anyone interested in a very logic-chain based political science/philosophy argument. Keep in mind that it's very dense and takes a very close read to grasp, but it doesn't waste words and is concise in its arguments. The classic read for a libertarian.

Nozick's work has long been regarded as a staple of political philosophy, and with good reason. His prose is engaging, and his logic compelling. Nozick is an excellent and insightful critic of the state; between just the two of them, his Wilt Chamberlain and Tale of a Slave illustrations roundly demolish pretty much all arguments for a central state, but he goes into far more depth as well.

The final section -- Utopia -- is rather interesting, as Nozick takes a somewhat eclectic viewpoint, arguing that utopia is the journey and not the destination. He spends little time on existing utopian theory, instead pointing out (rightly) the flaws common to virtually all of it, and then discussing an alternative way of considering the idea.

Where Nozick is weakest is his treatment of the alleged necessity of the minimal state; despite thinking he has answered the objections of individualist anarchists, he has at best dodged them. He finishes his treatment of the subject with an entire chapter full of silly utilitarianism, theorising about means of maximising total utils without ever explaining what a util is or how one could possibly measure it, and declares the matter settled. Yet never does he explain what mechanism actually makes it okay to put a gun to somebody's head and extract revenue; perhaps that makes the utils come out.

Overall, this is a highly engaging book, and a must-read for any serious student of political philosophy.

Lucid, insightful, and funny!

Nozick explains in clear and insightful ways for a libertarian view that ennobles the individual, but at the same time maintaining an appropriate role for the state. He has many examples and unlike many philosophers, he is funny; there are examples and anecdotes that will make you laugh. Nozick is the best counter example to Rawls.
