This book explains how organizations attempt to influence the political system. There has been a large increase in the number of interest groups in the past three decades. The book explains the types of interest groups and why people join them. It gives a good explanation of lobbyist and the role they play in the political spectrum.

there was nothing wrong with the ordering or delivery of the book. But overall the book is very boring and there is a lot of common sense information that I did not need to pay for.

Total rip off - but my class required the book

At $65.00 used for this book, it is a total rip off. The book is a paperback with 190 pages of actual study material. The contents is fundamental and could have been reduced to 100 pages for a total cost of $15.00 . This is what's happening in the education system, students are being required to buy books that are sub-standard, and pay huge amounts of money for them because the publishers lobby the institutions to select their books.

A Tour-de-Force on the origins of the Arab/Israeli conflict

Adel Safty's book constitutes a cogent and well documented account of the establishment of Israel and the dispossession and relocation of the indigenous people of Palestine. It ought to be a mandatory read for everyone interested in the Middle East and everyone with a genuine wish to understand how the Arab/Israeli conflict came about and why solutions have proven to be so elusive. It takes us into the dark and sinister alleyways of power politics - the realm of betrayal, deceit, greed and ice-cold ruthlessness, completely demasking the story, we were all told and grew up to believe. Thus it dramatically challenges the dominant narrative of this conflict in the Western world, but does so on the basis of a wealth of official documents, mainly British, Zionist and American. It is a depressing book, because it is a depressing story with no white knight appearing at the end. Safty is a passionate (though objective) writer, but not really an eloquent one. Keen to drive home his important points, the book contains many unnecessary repetitions. Reading the book can therefore occasionally appear tiresome, but due to its content, it is worth every effort. It deserves the widest possible dissemination.

a story as old as Time

It is books like this that serve as a healthy corrective to the endless tidal wave of pro-Zionist propaganda which inundates our society. But it is merely the latest chapter in a story that is as old as Time itself. We find exact parallels in the takeover of Australia from the aborigines, the takeover of New Zealand from the Maoris, the takeover of Hawaii from the Polynesians, the takeover of the Americas from the "Indians" and so forth. As Sir Walter Scott put it in 'The Lady of the Lake': "The stranger came with iron hand, and from our fathers reft the land. The Gael, of plain and river heir, shall with strong hand redeem his share."
